"We want to be part of the team to make their property stand out," Cheng says. "More and more I see companies not just looking at furniture well in advance, but actually contracting with furni- ture companies so they have more time to get the best design and outft their leasing ofces with furniture to increase pre-leasing." "We're confdent that the quality and attractiveness of furniture is very important to the leasing process for both students and parents," Clark says. "With fve new develop- ments delivering in fall 2015, and a similar number in 2016, the ability to showcase the new product with leasing centers that are fur- nished with the latest and greatest in furniture design is critical for us." Many companies are engaging students to gather feedback about their furniture design to make sure they are creating living spaces that Millennials want. "Students are an important part of our pro- cess," Zaki says. "We know they like to sit around and have more space for themselves. They want 40 inches of a seat compared to 20 inches because they want to slouch. They want to be able to plug in. They want convenience."
