CAMPUS UPDATE MARCH/APRIL 2015 STUDENT HOUSING BUSINESS .COM 30 Cornish College of The Arts CONSTRUCTION ON NEW RESIDENCE HALL TOPS OUT Seattle — Cornish Commons, the new residence hall and academic build- ing being developed for Cornish College of the Arts, is on schedule for a fall 2015 opening. Construction topped out with the pouring of the roof slab in January. The next milestone for the project will be completion of the building enclosure, which will occur in March. The 20-story build- ing marks the frst "ground-up" project since 1921 for the 100-year-old Seattle arts college. Located on Cornish's campus in downtown Seattle, the building will serve as Cornish's "living room" as well as a residence hall, with studio spaces, a freside lounge, and Student Life offces on the frst two foors. The project is being developed by Capstone Develop- ment Partners with Ankrom Moisan Architects and Howard S Wright as design builder. Capstone and Cornish broke ground on the project in March 2014. Cornish Commons will open its doors to students in Sep- tember 2015. 12Fifty5 On University in Tempe, Ariz., formerly named Quadrangles Village, has undergone improvements to convert the property from conventional apartments to student housing. Located on the campus of Cornish College of the Arts in downtown Seattle, Cornish Commons will serve as the university's "living room" as well as a residence hall, with studio spaces, a freside lounge and Student Life offces on the frst two foors. Florida Polytechnic University VESTCOR TO DEVELOP PHASE II OF CAMPUS HOUSING Lakeland, Fla. — Vestcor Communities has been awarded the contract to build the second phase of on-campus housing at Florida Polytechnic Uni- versity. Vestcor completed the frst residence hall, which has 241 beds, in August 2014. The 132,000-square-foot steel building will provide hous- ing for 543 students, primarily in two-bedroom/one-bath units. Each unit will have stackable washer and dryers. Amenities will include study lounges, student lounges with multiple TVs for gaming, game room with hospitality bar, pool tables and ping-pong tables, common area kitchens and study rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin in April and is ex- pected to be completed in July of 2016. Arizona State University MIG REAL ESTATE COMPLETES RENOVATION OF 12FIFTY5 ON UNIVERSITY APARTMENTS Tempe, Ariz. — MIG Real Estate has completed renovations at 12Fifty5 On University Apartments in Tempe. The community, formerly named Quadrangles Village, has undergone improvements to convert the prop- erty from conventional apartments to student housing. The 756-bed stu- dent housing community is situated in a bike-friendly neighborhood within walking distance to the campus of Arizona State University and local Metro light rail and bus routes. The community is managed by Grey- star Student Living and offers studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom apartment homes ranging in size from 493 to 848 square feet of living space. Upgrades to the apartment homes include wood-style fooring, modern carpeting, white cabinetry, new appliances and designer light- ing fxtures. Spacious foor plans include features such as open kitchens, large patios and balconies, walk-in closets and exterior storage rooms.
