NE WS IN BRIEF 12 May/June 2018 MJW INVESTMENTS ACQUIRES STUDENT HOUSING COMMUNITY NEAR ARIZONA STATE Tempe, Ariz. — MJW Investments has acquired ReNUE on Orange, a 110-unit student housing com- munity located near Arizona State University in Tempe. The property offers one- and two-bedroom units with shared amenities including a swimming pool, sundeck and courtyard. The company plans to make significant improvements to the property, including upgrading unit interiors and common areas, addressing deferred maintenance issues and rebranding the prop- erty as "Thrive Tempe," accord- ing to Mark Weinstein, president of MJW Investments. This invest- ment increases MJW Investment's student housing portfolio bed- count to over 5,500 beds. ARA NEWMARK CLOSES $500 MILLION IN STUDENT HOUSING SALES IN SEVEN STATES Austin, Texas — ARA, A Newmark Co., has sold more than $500 mil- lion in student housing proper- ties since February, totaling more than 5,034 beds near major uni- versities in seven states. The eight sold properties include The Ridge at Gainesville, offering 661 beds near the University of Florida in Gainesville; The Blake, offering 270 beds near the Savannah Col- lege of Art and Design in Savan- nah, Georgia; Station Nine, a 457- bed community located near Duke University in Durham, North Carolina; Parkhaus and Links at Lincoln, two communities located near the University of Nebraska in Lincoln offering 192 beds and 1,020 beds, respectively; Stadium View, a 956-bed community lo- cated near the University of Min- nesota in Minneapolis; Aspyre at Assembly Station, a 760-bed com- munity located near the Universi- ty of South Carolina in Columbia; and Crowne at Campus Pointe, a 718-bed community located near the University of Tennessee. Ryan Lang, executive managing direc- tor at ARA Newmark and head of its Student Housing Group, represented the sellers in each transaction with partners Bran- don Buell and Trent Houchin. The company's student housing team is based in Austin, Texas. ACH TO MANAGE 154-BED COMMUNITY NEAR CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY Cleveland — Asset Campus Hous- ing has been awarded manage- ment of the Domain at Cleveland, a 154-bed student housing com- munity located near Cleveland State University. The property offers one-bedroom floor plans with custom furniture packages. Shared amenities include a 24- hour health and fitness center with free weights, machine weights and cardio equipment; a 24-hour computer lab with state-of-the art computers and the latest software; private study rooms; and a club- house. TRAVIS PRINCE JOINS CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD AS EXECUTIVE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF STUDENT HOUSING Tampa, Fla. — Cushman & Wake- field has hired Travis Prince as executive man- aging director of the firm's na- tional Student Housing Capital Markets team. Prince joins Cushman from Colliers Inter- national, where he specialized in student housing investment sales with the firm's National Student Housing Group. In his new role based in the company's Tampa, Florida, office, Prince will focus on the acquisition and disposition of student housing investment properties across the country. "Mr. Prince brings an unparal- leled level of expertise in student housing, and we are pleased that he has decided to continue his tre- mendous career with Cushman & Wakefield," says Larry Richey, Florida market leader for Cush- man & Wakefield.
