CAMPUS UPDATE March/April 2018 StudentHousingBusiness.com 26 The University of Texas PARALLEL CO ANNOUNCES 502-BED DEVELOPMENT NEAR THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS Austin, Texas — Parallel CO, a new entity headed by industry veterans David Pierce and Kristen Penrod, has announced plans for MUZE, a 502- bed student housing development located blocks from the University of Texas campus in Austin. The 18-story high-rise is scheduled for delivery in fall 2019. Community amenities will include a rooftop swimming pool, outdoor theater and kitchen area, fitness center, community gathering spaces and a state-of-the-art study floor with spaces for individual and group study. Units will be fully furnished with a custom designed furni- ture package. The architect for the project is Rhode Partners and Rogers- O'Brien is the general contractor. Sixthriver will provide interior and product design services. The Georgia Institute of Technology SUMMIT CONTRACTING AWARDED $42 MILLION CONTRACT TO BUILD MIXED-USE STUDENT HOUSING COMMUNITY IN ATLANTA Atlanta — Summit Contracting Group, a multifamily general contractor, has started construction on Theory West Midtown, a student housing community located near the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. The property is owned by BVSHSSF Atlanta LLC, and the architect for the development is Niles Bolton Associates. The property will offer 525 beds in two, five-story buildings with ground floor retail and a parking garage. Shared amenities will include a resort-style swimming pool, fitness cen- ter, business center, study areas, a package locker system, rooftop terrace and bike storage. The project is set for delivery summer 2019.
