SMARTSTOP ASSET MANAGEMENT ACQUIRES 709-BED COMMUNITY NEAR THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO Reno, Nev. — SmartStop Asset Management LLC has acquired The Summit, a 709-bed student housing community located near the University of Nevada, Reno campus, for $70 million. The seven-building, LEED Silver certified property offers fully furnished units with washers and dryers. Community amenities include a two-story clubhouse, fit- ness center, game lounge, pool, spa, computer room and business center, campus shuttle service, common area barbecues, a tanning room and private study rooms. John Strockis, senior vice president of acquisitions for SmartStop Asset Management, facilitated the transaction on behalf of a SmartStop affiliate. TH REAL ESTATE ACQUIRES TWO PROPERTIES IN CALIFORNIA, SOUTH CAROLINA San Diego and Columbia, S.C. — TH Real Estate, a division of TIAA Global Asset Management, has acquired two student housing properties located in California and South Carolina in separate transactions. Acquisitions include BLVD63, a 1,379-bed community located near San Diego State University; and Greene Crossing, a 726-bed community located 0.2 miles from the University of South Carolina campus in Columbia. Community amenities at BLVD63 include a clubhouse, media room, game room, fitness center and study lounges. Community amenities at Greene Crossing include a resort-style pool, large sundeck, 24-hour fitness cen- ter, business center, garage parking and a cyber café with a coffee bar. The sellers in each transaction were undisclosed. CORE SPACES NAMES NANDRA JACKSON REGIONAL PROPERTY MANAGER Jackson, Miss. — Core Spaces has named Nandra Jackson regional prop- erty manager. Jackson will be based in Jackson, Mississippi, and will be responsible for overseeing the operation of Core Spaces' communities in the Southern and Eastern United States. Prior to joining Core Spaces, Jackson served as regional property manager at Ambling Management Company. "We're very pleased that Nandra Jackson has joined Core Spaces," says Ben Modleski, COO of Core Spaces. "She has an excellent background in the housing industry and a long track record of success in meeting financial and other goals, enhancing tenant satisfaction and increasing occupancy rates."
