CAMPUS UPDATE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2015 STUDENT HOUSING BUSINESS .COM 24 INDIANA UNIVERSITY – PURDUE UNIVERSITY INDIANAPOLIS TRINITAS BREAKS GROUND ON THE COLLEGIATE Indianapolis — Trinitas has broken ground on The Collegiate, a 193-unit, 669-bed student housing project that will reside on 2.8 acres of land in downtown Indianapolis and serve students of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis. The project will feature a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. Each fully furnished unit will include bedrooms with private bathroom suites, walk-in closets, a washer and dryer, and high-speed Internet with wireless capabilities. The complex, designed by Ratio Architects, includes two buildings ranging from fve to 11 stories and is anticipated to open in August 2017. It will include 3,100 square feet of retail space and 370,000 square feet of ameni- ties including a fve-level parking garage, outdoor courtyard with a bas- ketball court, and resort-style pool and sundeck with water volleyball and grilling stations. Student residents will have access to a 5,196-square-foot, all-inclusive clubhouse featuring a ftness center, free tanning, a computer café, private study lounges, gaming stations and large-screen TVs. UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AT CHATTANOOGA SCHOOL BREAKS GROUND ON 600-BED COMPLEX Chattanooga, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has broken ground on a new 600-bed, $70 million housing complex. The 231,959-square-foot development on the west side of campus will also include classrooms, a bookstore outlet, a dining facility and a demonstra- tion kitchen to help students transition to apartment living. The structure will feature 648 new parking spaces for cars and 22 motorcycle parking spaces. Each room will be wired for gigabyte service as well as wireless connectivity. The facility is projected to open in fall 2018. UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO SUNDT COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION ON RESIDENCE HALL Reno, Nev. — Sundt Construction Inc. has completed construction of the new Peavine Hall residential community at the University of Nevada, Reno. The $35 million project, led by Sundt as the construction manager at risk, included demolition of multiple existing buildings and the construc- tion of the 117,000-square-foot, fve-story steel and concrete residence hall. Collaborative Design Studio designed the hall and LEED Gold certi- fcation is pending. The building features a brick veneer, suite-style hous- ing for 400 students, common lounge spaces and state-of-the-art building systems. Located within the campus' residential hall district, the new building complements the rest of the university's campus architecture. ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY SECOND PHASE OF UNIVERSITY HOUSE OPENS Tempe, Ariz. — University House Communities has opened the second phase of University House, a 16-story, 148,680-square-foot building with 242 beds in two-, three- and four-bedroom options near Arizona State University's campus. Designed by Dallas-based architecture frm BOKA Powell to complement the existing adjacent frst phase, University House amenities include a resort-style pool and hot tub, a scoreboard-sized LED outdoor TV screen, a clubroom with gaming systems, a yoga and steam room, ftness center, outdoor grilling stations as well as indoor/outdoor study areas and conference rooms. Apartments range from 716 to 1,289 square feet, with modern, fully equipped kitchens. Each unit has foor-to- ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the Sun Devil Stadium across the street. Units are available to students for nine- and 12-month leases, and are move-in ready with platform beds, kitchen and living room furniture. Sixthriver Architects completed the interior design for the new tower. Materials and furnishings include mirrored tile, natural wood planks and exposed concrete.
