NE WS IN BRIEF MARCH/APRIL 2015 STUDENT HOUSING BUSINESS .COM 18 CARDINAL GROUP TO MANAGE FIVE STUDENT HOUSING COMMUNITIES IN IDAHO AND ARIZONA Denver — Cardinal Group Management will manage fve student hous- ing communities in Rexburg, Idaho and Tempe and Tucson, Arizona. Denver-based Cardinal Group will take over the management of Mountain Lofts in Rexburg, a 1,072-bed community serving Brigham Young University Idaho students. Mountain Lofts is walkable to campus for residents. College Town has two locations Cardinal Group will man- age in Tempe, 304 beds, as well as in Tucson, 478 beds. These manage- ment assignments stem from a deal with MCS Capital Partners. These communities have both been under renovation for the past two years. Cardinal Group's student housing portfolio exceeds 9,000 beds. PEAK CAMPUS AWARDED MANAGEMENT IN TUCSON, ARIZONA Tucson, Ariz. — Peak Campus Management was selected as property manager for The Junction at Iron Horse, a purpose-built student hous- ing project located in Tucson, serving the students at The University of Arizona. The units, all of which feature bed-to-bath parity, is a mix of furnished foor plans ranging from one bedroom to four bedrooms. Each unit includes walk-in closets, washer and dryer, and stylish, well- appointed fnishes. Its amenity package includes a 24-hour ftness center, swimming pool and hot tub, grilling areas, game lounge, sun deck, busi- ness center, 24-hour computer lab, secured bike storage, covered parking and access to a community garden. (CFI), a real estate investment and man- agement frm, has entered the stu- dent housing sector with a new divi- sion, Campus First Student Living. The division will focus on acquisi- tions, development and manage- ment of off-campus student housing. David Neef has recently joined CFI and will serve as the managing direc- tor of Campus First. Joining Neef on the leadership team will be current CFI executive and CFO Bill Barkwell. Neef and Barkwell have more than 45 years of combined experience, and have operated more than 85,000 student housing beds in 35 states. HARRISON STREET HIRES JD GOERING FOR STUDENT HOUSING TEAM Chicago — Harrison Street Real Estate Capital has hired JD Goering as a vice president in the transactions group. Goering previously was a senior vice president and led the student housing acquisition team at Blue Vista Capital Management LLC, a real estate investment management frm based in Chicago. During his time at Blue Vista Goering worked on deploying capital into student acquisitions and developments at more than 40 campuses across the United States totaling more than $1.7 billion of assets.
