CAMPUS UPDATE July/August 2018 StudentHousingBusiness.com 26 The University of Houston-Victoria UH-VICTORIA BREAKS GROUND ON $22.8 MILLION STUDENT HOUSING PROPERTY Victoria, Texas — The University of Houston-Victoria (UH-Victoria) has broken ground on Don & Mona Smith Hall, a $22.8 million student hous- ing property on the university's campus in Victoria. The community will consist of 272 beds and span 82,000 square feet. Some amenities are still being determined, but the property will include a gaming lounge and an outdoor courtyard with seating and sports activities. Morganti Texas Inc. is serving as construction manager on the project, and Brave Architecture is handling its design. Completion is expected for August 2019. CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY ON FIVE PROPERTIES BY CORE SPACES Chicago — Construction is currently underway on five properties to- taling 2,441 beds by Chicago-based Core Spaces. New Developments include Hub on Campus Tucson – Speedway located near the Uni- versity of Arizona; Hub on Campus Lexington near the University of Kentucky; Hub on Campus West Lafayette - State Street near Purdue University; Hub on Campus East Lansing near Michigan State Uni- versity; and The Collective on 4th in Portland, Oregon, near Portland State University and Oregon Health and Sciences University. Hub on Campus Tucson – Speedway will offer one-, two- and four-bedroom, apartment-style units and five-bedroom townhomes. Hub on Cam- pus Lexington will feature shared amenities including a rooftop pool with an outdoor barbecue deck; an outdoor courtyard for games and studying; a fitness complex with a spa; and ground floor retail leased to Target. Hub on Campus West Lafayette - State Street in West Lafay- ette, Indiana, will offer shared amenities including a top-floor club- house with private and group study rooms and a rooftop pool. Hub on Campus East Lansing will offer studio, two- and three-bedroom apartments with upgraded units featuring private hot tubs, built-in sound systems and high-end appliances, alongside shared amenities including a rooftop pool and an outdoor study terrace. The Collec- tive on 4th in Portland will offer a sky terrace with a hot tub, chef's kitchen and indoor and outdoor lounges; and a fourth floor deck with a hot tub, bocce ball, a fire pit, barbecue stations, and lounging space in and around a custom vintage Airstream. Each development is set to open in August 2019.
