ON-CAMPUS HOUSING January/February 2017 StudentHousingBusiness.com 50 ing on-campus housing through public private partnerships — its first was in 1999 with Capstone. Design Collective is currently designing The Village, a new housing-centered community at the Uni- versity of South Florida (USF) in Tampa. The project is a public-private partner- ship between the university and a JV with Harrison Street Real Estate Capital and Capstone. The $134 million project is the largest P3 in the State University System of Florida's history. "This new residential village will be transformative for the University of South Florida," says USF System President Judy Genshaft. Located on the northern portion of campus, the village will replace the cur- rent Andros housing complex, which was built in the early 1960s. It will feature a combination of suite and traditional style beds, a health and wellness facility, out- door pool, dining facility and retail spaces. Construction will meet the standards for LEED Silver certification. Phase one will demolish four existing Andros student residential buildings, adjacent support buildings and an outdoor pool. Following the demolition, the residential village with 1,250 beds will be constructed. The $134 million New Housing Village project at the University of South Florida in Tampa is the largest P3 in the State University System of Florida's history. The project is bringing the on-campus housing total to about 6,500 beds. The design by Design Collective is based on the concept of a 24-hour village and a "wow" factor for visiting families and neighboring communities.
